My favorite NBA player

I want to introduce that my favorite NBA player. The man is Stephen carry. He was elected to the MVP in 2015 in NBA. His father is NBA player too. His name is Dell carry. Stephen carry belongs to Golden State Warriors. He is from State of Ohio. He had a lot of attention from the time of college student. He is still five years to become a professional basketball player. But, now he is said to the best shot is good player in the NBA. So, he is still five years to become a professional basketball player, I understand that he was MVP in NBA in 2015. I think I want to do his best in the future.  My favorite sports is basketball. When I was 16, I began to play basketball. I went to Luther high school. I joined basketball club. My basketball club is not much strong. But teammate are all friendly. I like all teammate. Thanks to my teammate, I enjoyed playing basketball. The reason that my favorite sports is basketball player is so cool. I like American basketball. This name is NBA. NBA players are very cool and so good basketball player. I respect them, because they are good at shooting. my first KGU memory

 I had a BBQ on Wednesday with my circle friends. Today I will introduce my memories. At first, we carried BBQ sets. This is very heavy and so far to the BBQ place, but I had no trouble! It is because we enjoyed talking on the way. We started to BBQ at 7 o’clock. I wanted to play Oshizumou on the Shirakawa river! It is very thrilling very much! I was going to win this time, but I couldn’t win once. I wet my whole body, and very cold, and I don’t have my change of clothes. After that we eat a lot of meat. I feel very delicious and fantastic to eat dinner after sports!! I was so grateful because my senior roasted meat. If I want to repay the opportunity! We had a BBQ at the riverside. My senior brings the music player, we can be excited! It is dark outside so late, we finished BBQ. I had a very fun, but still wanted. Today, I teach you my local area is Kumamoto where I was born. Kumamoto’s local food is great. It is famous for Karasirennkon, Basashi and Orange. I like Kumamoto’s fruits is sweet because we have clean water. So we can eat delicious food. Kumamoto has many places that people can watch night view. I went to Aso’s Daikanbou with my friends on December. There we played tag and police and thief. After that we watched stars lay on grand. The day is very cold but we enjoyed it. Elsewhere we also went to Hanaokamounain that is near Kumamoto station. We played kick the can game there and watched night view of Kumamoto city is brilliant. Kumamoto alsao has many of hot spring places. I like hot spring. So I often go to Bath of Ikkyu and Bath of Batten near my house with my friends at night. I have gone to Krokawa with my classmate as graduation trip on April 2013 in Aso. There is a lot of hot spring and inn in Kurokawa. There’s hot sprig is my best bath in Kumamoto. I want to go hot spring of Kagoshima next year. Kumamoto is famous for Kumamoto castle is made by Kiyomasa kato before 400 years. I often go there with classmates and family as picnic when I was elementary student. I go there to draw the Kumamoto castle in junior high school class and to watch big fireworks in summer. my favorite Manga

I will introduce MAJOR of anime. It is baseball anime. It was released in 2004. I watched this anime for the first time in 2005. This anime contents makes us very exciting and like baseball. A story begins with 5 years old and for setting to become 34 years old at the time of the last story. It is the work which I pictured a description of half life of character, Goro Shigeno in substantially. In addition, the position team of Goro changes depending on growth. But Goro changes the heart of the teammate for the passion and it may be said that it is the basic style of this product. The scene which I like most Yokohama little confrontation. His team is very weak but Yokohama little is very strong. Unbelievable, this battle’s winner is his team. It makes me very enjoyed.  Anime Major is loved by every baseball player and like baseball people. The anime had ended last year. I was very shocked then. I sometimes watch the anime because I really like this anime.

 I will introduce my favorite thing. My favorite sport is snowboard. I started snowboard for 6 years old. I started it the reason my father likes snowboard. So, I have been to Kuzyu sky place every year. I became like snowboard because I go to there to do snowboard every year. I could not go to Kuzyu sky place when I was high school student. I was busy because I had played baseball for 3 years. But I went to Kuzyu to do snowboard last year with university friends. I am going to go to Kuzyu to do snowboard this year. I want to go to there many times in this year. I will already go to there with my friends. I thought sky more interesting snowboard. Snowboard is very difficult. And it is very fast speed. I learn English

I think that it was so difficult to learn new language. When I was born, I would not understand language all. I may have heard Japanese for many people and I have known Japanese little by little. And then when I got a little bigger, I spoke Japanese. I think that is able to speak the language is important to understand that you use regularly. When I was junior high school, I learned English. It is new language and I thought it is very difficult. First I had to remember the alphabet, word and grammar. Be able to speak is so difficult. I was not good at English at first. Then I did my best to speak to many people in English and I could understand.  But I could not understand reading, writing and listening. I thought I could not use language in some years. Five years since then I go to KGU and I learn in English. I liked it so I continued to study. But I can speak it smoothly.  I studied it every day, but I only study an hour in a day. To continue to use it is most important ways I thought. And then I think that the best way is to go to America or countries that use English. So I can speak to many people in it and I will remember the speech.  My dream is to speak English fluently and I want to go to America. Also I learned French at this college. It is similar to English and I could understand it less. I thought Japanese was more difficult than any other languages. For example, there are hiragana, katakana and kanji in Japanese and there are difficult text and books. I think it is so difficult for foreign people to read and write Japanese.  I want to be able to French. It is so difficult. I thought that using language is to be speaking to many people and I can make a lot of friends so language is a way that we lead.  I want to introduce in my family. There are five people in my family.  My father and my sister and my grandmother and my grandfather and me.
 My father is working of real estate relationship he has been in 10 years. He is working to hard every day, because I respect to him very much. I like him because he is very interesting people. I want to become a him, if I will more bigger.
 My sister is third high school student now. She has entered the drum part, she plays hard every day practice. So she has always tired, I always slept in sofa. Because she has been working hard also studying I think great her. she will take College entrance exam next year, I want to do her best this year.
 My grandfather is very healthy man. He is 70 years old. But, he is really healthy. I am sometimes really surprised his healthy. I am 20 years old but, he is healthy better than me. He plays many sports ever now. He plays rugby, volleyball, golf. When he was in high school, he has participated in national competition in rugby. He is a healthy man and movement is very good from that time. I think that I am also wanted to born like grandfather. He is also very intelligent. He went to NO.1 intelligent high school in Kumamoto. He is a perfect man. I respect to him very much.
 My grandmother is great woman. She has all the things of the house every day. Cleaning and laundry and cooking, she has all things of the house. I am always grateful to her. But, I can not convey the feeling of gratitude for shame. I want to convey the gratitude because it always bother. I would like to gift as something of gratitude when I start working.

My semi's presentation

1.      Introduction　            

In the world, different places have different ways of speaking. These are called dialects. For example, In Japan, There is Okinawa dialect, Kumamoto dialect, Akita dialect and many more. The differences between them are intonation, words, pronunciation, and accent. Not only Japan, but also America has a lot of dialects.  

My topic is New England dialect. New England consists of six states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Look at this map. It is bordered by New York to the west. New England is the oldest area in America. New England was originally inhabited by Indigenous peoples in 1616. English Pilgrims and especially Puritans, fleeing religious persecution in England, arrived there between 1620 to 1660. At first, in 1620, 102 Puritans were came from British by Mayflower ship. After that, New England led the way to the American Revolution. The region became a stronghold of the conservative Federalist Party and opposed the War of 1812 with Great Britain. By the 1840s it was the center of the American antislavery movement, and was the leading force in American literature and higher education. There are 4 kinds of New England dialects: Southeastern New England and Northeastern and Southwestern and Northwestern. This paper’s research topic is what kinds of differences are there in these four New England dialects? And, why are these differences?

2. Previous studies　

Herman　&　Herman (2014, P. 25) said “the New England dialect is not spoken throughout the New England area.”

Hirohisa Kawaguchi(1977, P.80) said “One single dialect formation caused the history of the colonization of the region is given. So, the most immigrants to New England, from England South East of New England uses a similar dialect. But they do not use same dialect.”

3. Characteristics of New England Dialects

According to Northwestern New England English is mainly spoken in Vermont. It has American style R. And for example, ‘cot’ and ‘caught’ is same spoken by Northwestern English.

Northeastern New England English is mainly spoken in Boston, Massachusetts, extending into New Hampshire, and coastal Maine. It has British style R. And ‘cot’ and ‘caught’ is same pronunciation spoken by Northeastern English.   

Southwestern New England English is mainly spoken in both Hartford in northwestern Connecticut and Springfield in Southwestern Massachusetts. It has American style R.

Southeastern New England English is mainly spoken in Providence, Rhode Island and the Narragansett Bay. It has British style R. And ‘cot’ and ‘caught’ is same pronunciation by Southeastern English.

3-2. Kawaguchi said, there are same Northeastern New England and Southeastern New England dialects.

(1)   Open mouth a sound (“Broad a”): This sound is not same (a) there is for example “father”. South British was using {a} there is for example “ask”

(2)   (“Short o”): Sound “Short o” transformed sound (a) in 17 century in Britain. And now, it become Received Pronunciation, it came to New England area. For example: (hot, stop, on, crop, fog)

(3)   After a vowel (r) “Postvocalic (r)”: In General American, people pronunciation after a vowel “r”. But, Eastern New England and New York and South American area don’t pronunciation after a vowel “r”. In 17 century, people were coming to America. And they pronunciation “r”. But, in 18 century in Britain, A part of area were exclude, this “r” was not using, this thing entered to Boston.

4. History of New England dialect

Researching that why New England dialect separate four. There were a lot of histories in New England dialect. In 1584, Sir Walter Raleigh settled in ROANOKU island, but it was finished in failure. But in 1607, It is settle to Chesapeake Bay, it succeeded. Because a British king in that time was James I, the people who settled the place was named James town. After the place, become a state of Virginia. Since the soil in the northeast was not favorable to farming, and the Bay company made the most forests and water resources. Puritan was running away to escape state of Massachusetts Charles 1 in 1630 for 1641. About 300 ships were riding 20 thousand British people. And then, a lot of colonists are upper-lower and lower-middle. These colonists were from Southeastern in England. Especially, these colonists were a lot of from East Anglia. The British New England colonies included Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. While there were several large communities within the Bay Colony. Boston became the capital for the group of cities. After that, in 1846, all areas happened food shortage in Ireland. A lot of areas did not take a potato, and happened typhoid, a lot of people in Ireland death. Ireland did not help people, they escaped to go to America. And, they decided to go to area is New England are. Also, New England area increased a lot of the lower classes people in Ireland in 19 century. There was Kennedy president’s grandfather in their crows. According to statistics in 1880, Massachusetts and around the area had 20% in population that born to foreign countries people. In this, Ireland people were a lot. In country, 1000 more Ireland people lived in New England area.

5. Conclusion　

This paper is about New England dialect. New England is separated six states. The reason that New England dialect was born is Britain came to this area in 1620. So, New England dialect is similar to British English. In that, Boston was came to a lot of Ireland people and they make a group once an accent. If researching that why New England dialect was separated four areas, this paper is be able to better. And, Eastern New England dialect’s kind more write. This paper is a little write for John. F. Kennedy, but more information write for him. This paper’s result is New England dialect has a lot of history and it connects British and Ireland and African and any more countries history. Next time, the other American dialect and this paper prepare. It may find new information of American dialects. And Next time more deep New England history and about Kennedy.
